| Description | Maison Bordeaux is a charming French-style guesthouse, situated in the Johannesburg suburb of Bordeaux, a wooded and quiet corner of South Africa’s busiest city. The guesthouse has four superbly comfortable and tastefull decorated en-suite rooms, each with its own private entrance.
Guests enter Maison Bordeaux through typically French double doors. The inviting and informally decorated entrance hall and covered veranda overlook the rectangular stone pond with fountains and the garden beyond. Established trees, lavender, roses and a shaded gravel circle invite guests to linger outside on sunny days and summer evenings. A generous full English or continental breakfast is served in the tranquil dining room adjacent to the living room. A two-course, home-cooked dinner is available on request. Over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee, guests are invited to enjoy the warm and cosy fireside in the winter. Maison Bordeaux is the ideal base from which to explore Johannesburg. Shopping, restaurants and cinemas at Sandton City, Hyde Park and Rosebank Mall are accessible within minutes. The Johannesburg Zoo and Zoo lake are a short drive away. Day trips to the Lion Park, Soweto, the African Markets nearby, the theatre or bird park at Montecasino, and the Cradle of Humankind are easily organized. Please ask your hosts, Cathy and Ron, for more information on “must see and do” activities. Secure Parking is available on site. The owners are living off site but on the adjacent property so are just a shout away. Maison Bordeaux has broadband internet access and DSTV is available in each room. Maison Bordeaux was awarded a 4-STAR grading by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (formerly SATOUR) and a SUPERIOR grading by the Automobile Association of South Africa (the AA). It is also quality approved by the National Accommodation Association (NAA-SA). All business and holiday guests have optimal independence and privacy. |
